The Alien vs. Predator benchmark makes use of the advanced tessellation, screen space ambient occlusion and high-quality shadow features, available with DirectX 11. In addition to enabling all of the aforementioned DirectX 11 related features offered by this benchmark, we also switched on 4X anti-aliasing along with 16X anisotropic filtering to more heavily tax the graphics cards being tested.

The same performance trend we've seen in the last few game tests plays out again in Alien vs. Predator. In this game, the new GeForce GTX 580 is, once again, the best performing single-GPU. The dual-GPU Radeon HD 5970, however, is clearly the fastest overall.

Multi-GPU testing with AvP yields some interesting results. It seems this game doesn't scale past two GPUs (at least with the current driver), as the quad-GPU Radeon HD 5970 CrossFire configuration showed no performance increase when using two cards. The GeForce GTX 580, however, showed huge gains and smoked the competition.
