LG G4 Review: A Competent, Capable Android Alternative

Performance: GPU

To get a feel for how graphics performance on the LG G4 compares to other devices, we used GFXBench, which has been one of our standard graphics performance benchmarks for a while. In order to ensure Vsynch and resolution isn’t a limiting factor, we will compare offscreen test results. We also used Futuremark's 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited benchmark.

Though its metrics are decent and respectable, the LG G4 probably isn't the phone for you if you're a hardcore gamer. In fact, on one of our tests here, the LG G3 outperformed the newer LG G4 (fill rate). The Adreno 418 GPU is no slouch, per se, but the new Galaxy lineup and HTC's One M9 should both be higher on your consideration list if looking for maximum frames per second over battery life.

This Ice Storm Unlimited test places a significant amount of sustained strain on both CPU and GPU. Here, the LG G4 held its own, ranking amongst the top and going toe-to-toe with other flagship handsets. Also of note, we see a substantial bump across the board versus the numbers put up by the LG G3.
