Lenovo YOGA Tablet 2 10-inch Review

Lenovo’s YOGA Tablet 2 family offers some new features and versatility we haven’t seen on other tablets. While the YOGA Tablet 2 Pro is sure to attract attention with its huge 13.3-inch display and built-in pico projector, the 10-inch YOGA Tablet 2 may be more practical for some users due to its more portable footprint and much more affordable price tag.

Real-world performance of the YOGA Tablet 2 was good. Although the YOGA Tablet 2 wasn’t a chart-topper in our quantitative benchmark tests, we still feel it’s a very good tablet performance-wise. We experienced no glitches or lag when performing general everyday tasks such as checking email, browsing the web, watching movies, etc.

We have mixed feelings about Lenovo’s custom skin that runs on top of Android KitKat. It wasn’t a detraction per say, but we also didn’t feel like it added a ton of extra functionality. Our favorite additions are the Bottom Switch and MultiWindow capabilities.

The built-in stand found on the YOGA Tablet 2 gives it a few more usage options than other tablets, since you can easily prop the tablet up or hang it from a hook using this built-in stand. The cylindrical base can also provide a grip for the tablet when you’re holding it in portrait mode. Keep in mind, however, that this thicker base also takes up a bit more room in your laptop bag. It's useful and practical, but it does detract from the classic thin slate tablet design that has become industry standard now.

We can also see business users considering the YOGA Tablet 2 or YOGA Tablet 2 Pro for use as a second monitor for their laptop (with the optional purchase of the app to enable this functionality) or as a screen for giving presentations during business meetings. Regardless of how you intend to use them, the YOGA Tablet 2 and YOGA Tablet 2 Pro have a lot of features and functionality.

We commend Lenovo’s outside the box thinking and their efforts to redefine what a tablet can, or perhaps should, be. There are a lot of things to like about the YOGA Tablet 2 and the rest of the YOGA Tablet family; we'd encourage you to give them a look for yourself.
