Lenovo ThinkPad W550s Ultrabook Mobile Workstation Review
3DMark 11 and 3DMark Cloud Gate

Futuremark’s 3DMark 11 is a solid benchmark for assessing potential gaming capabilities, but it’s old enough not to whack systems like the W550s. We tested on the Performance Preset at 1280x720 resolution.
The ThinkPad W550 took top honors here. That’s not too surprising, given that the processor isn’t weighed as heavily here as it is in some tests. The Quadro K620M has some chops.

The 3DMark suite breaks its tests down by computer type. Fire Strike, for example, is aimed at high-end gaming desktops. Cloud Gate, on the other hand, is designed for typical notebooks. As with 3DMark 11, the graphics card plays a large role in results, which are measured in points. Higher is better.
This time around, the ThinkPad W550s doesn’t take top honors, though it’s still a better gamer than many of the other non-gaming notebooks we’ve tested in recent months.
