CrystalDiskMark is a synthetic benchmark that tests both sequential and random small and mid-sized file transfers using incompressible data. It provides a quick look at best and worst case scenarios with regard to SSD performance, best case being larger sequential transfers and worse case being small, random transfers.

The Intel Optane SSD 800P series drives trailed the pack in the sequential and higher queue depth tests here, but in the 4K QD1 test, they absolutely annihilated all of the NAND-based SSDs in the read test, offering many times the performance. 4K QD1 writes were also strong, though they didn't outpace some of the faster competition.
