EVGA 2800 SuperSC DDR4 Memory Review: Exploring Speeds Up To 2800MHz
EVGA 2800 SuperSC DDR4 Summary
EVGA makes a strong entry into the memory market with another formidable product line. Its High Performance 2800 SuperSC DDR4 Series 16GB kit performs great right out the package, but don’t hesitate to kick up the frequency. The performance gains aren’t massive, but there is a tangible increase as you step up from the default 2133MHz to the max recognized speed of 2800MHz.
For our kit, timings were fairly finicky at this higher speed, where going up or down would occasionally lock up the system. So tinkerers looking to squeeze every last bit of speed and achieve strangle-tight timings out of their kits, could see these as either a great challenge or a pass. For DIY builders and enthusiasts looking for a great performing rock solid stable kit with no-frills and out-of-box reliability, EVGA does deliver relatively well with this new memory kit.
Pricing And Availability
Availability is a concern, however. Outside of EVGA's own online marketplace, the kits are only available from Microcenter as in-store only purchases, further limiting product availability. And pricing at EVGA proper is $70 more than the $119 offered at Microcenter
