ASRock Vision 3D 137B HTPC with NVIDIA 3DTV Play

Total System Power Consumption

Throughout all of our benchmarking and testing, we monitored how much power our test systems consumed using a power meter. Our goal was to give you all an idea as to how much power the base platform configuration used while idling and while under a heavy workload. Please keep in mind that we were testing total system power consumption at the outlet here, not just the power being drawn by the processors alone.

As the benchmarks have shown, the ASRock Vision 3D HTPC offers much more performance than the other HTPC or mobile platforms we tested. All of that additional horsepower though, comes at the expense of power. While it performed much better, the ASRock Vision 3D HTPC also consumed much more power under both idle and load conditions.

With that said, we'd hardly consider peak power consumption of 67 watts to be a lot in a home theater environment. The machine has an acceptably small form factor, plenty of performance, and it's nearly silent. Power consumption this "high" in comparison to other mobile platforms is not a concern at all.
