Xbox And PC Gamers: 8BitDo Ultimate 3E Preorders Are Finally Live

It took a minute (and by that, we mean several months), but 8BitDo's customizable Ultimate 3E wireless controller for Xbox and PC gaming is now available to preorder for $149.99. You can also use it to play games on Android and Apple mobile devices via Bluetooth, though we suspect most users will be more interested in pairing it with an Xbox console or PC. Either way, it's set to release on August 31, 2026, just in time for the back-to-school season.

That means you'll have to wait until summer is virtually over before gaming on 8BitDo's highly anticipated module controller, but hey, at least you can lock in your order now. We've already covered the highlights back at CES, but to recap, this latest variant is an evolved version of the Ultimate 3, and it takes aim at the high-end peripheral market.

Compared to the Ultimate 3, the Ultimate 3E adds two more bumpers, a swappable D-Pad (you can go standard or circular), and swappable face buttons. And like its predecessor, the new controller sports hall-effect triggers and analog sticks. However, the the triggers have been upgraded for this go-round with an actuation adjustment slider. Likewise, the Ultimate 3E's analog sticks feature higher-precision TMR sticks. Say goodbye to drift issues.

"Two standard joysticks come equipped, with additional options including two Tall joysticks, one Thick-neck joystick, and one Dome joystick. Swap freely for different gaming scenarios and preferred feel," 8BitDo explains.

The grip angle is also wider on the Ultimate 3E, which 8BitDo says results in improved comfort. 8BitDo also added silicone side grips for better control "during intense gameplay." Other highlights include 2.4GHz wireless connectivity (with USB-C adapter) optimized for Xbox and PC, up to a 1,000Hz polling rate, customizable 6-axis motion control, a 3.5mm audio jack, and support for 8BitDo's Ultimate Software X utility.
