Microsoft Bundling Surface Pro 4 Tablets With Free Surface Dock
The Microsoft Store is in the midst of a Spring Sale event in which many products are available at a discount, including the Surface Book, which now has a starting price of $1,299 instead of $1,499. If you prefer the Surface Pro 4 tablet to the Surface Book, there is not a discount available at the moment, though Microsoft is tossing in a free Surface Dock accessory worth $199 (streets for $137 at places like Walmart and Amazon).
Using the included SurfaceConnect cable, the Surface Dock transforms the Surface Pro 4 into a desktop PC, or so that is the pitch from Microsoft. It certainly makes the Surface Pro 4 more flexible—the Surface Dock features four USB 3.0 ports, an audio output, a gigabit Ethernet port for wired connections, and two mini DisplayPorts for connecting the Surface Pro 4 to external displays.
Other options include:
- $999: Core i5-6300U, HD Graphics 520, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD
- $1,199: Core i5-6300U, HD Graphics 520,, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
- $1,499: Core i7-6650U, Iris Graphics 540, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
- $1,699 :Core i7-6650U, Iris Graphics 540,, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD
In addition to the above configurations, users can customize the specs to their needs. Options include up to a Core i7-6300U processor paired with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. Going all out like that runs $2,599.
