MacBook Air Battery Replacement Program
It isn't surprising that consumers were a bit worried about the battery replacements for the thin & light MacBook Air after the battery fiasco with the iPhone. Apple has announced a battery replacement program for the Air, but the good news is that any defective battery will be replaced for free within the 1-year warranty period:
“If your MacBook Air requires service only because the battery's ability to hold an electrical charge has diminished through normal use, Apple will provide a warranty against defects on the replacement battery for one year from the date of service.”
For U.S. consumers the cost of replacing a battery is $129, and Apple suggests making a complete backup of your data before bringing your Air in for service.
