Brandon received his first PC, an IBM Aptiva 310, in 1994 and hasn’t looked back since. He cut his teeth on computer building/repair working at a mom and pop computer shop as a plucky teen in the mid 90s and went on to join AnandTech as the Senior News Editor in 1999. Brandon would later help to form DailyTech where he served as Editor-in-Chief from 2008 until 2014. Brandon is a tech geek at heart, and family members always know where to turn when they need free tech support. When he isn’t writing about the tech hardware or studying up on the latest in mobile gadgets, you’ll find him browsing forums that cater to his long-running passion: automobiles.

Apple for years shunned the shift in the consumer market to larger-screened smartphones. The iPhone debuted with a 3.5-inch display in 2007, and upped the ante slightly with a 4-inch display with the 2012 debut of the iPhone 5. But Apple finally went after the bread and butter of the smartphone market (long after its... Read more...

Solid state drives (SSDs) might get all the press these days, but hard disk drives (HDDs) aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. They still offer a clear advantage when it comes to price-per-gigabyte and are great for archival purposes. With this in mind, Western Digital (HGST) is looking to shatter storage records by... We’ve been saying it for years: Adobe needs to go ahead and kill Flash. Late Apple CEO Steve Jobs called for Flash’s demise five years ago and at the time, it seemed like an impossibility. But after a half decade of increasing security exploits and performance degradation in even the most powerful PCs, the Internet... Read more...
We’ve all enjoyed Lenovo’s Yoga series of consumer laptops for years, but it looks like the Chinese OEM is looking to extend that flexibility to its storied ThinkPad product line. If there’s one thing that I’ve learned when it comes to taking any computing device in for service, it’s to back it up beforehand “just in case.” There’s no telling what service technicians will have to do with your device or what kind of mishaps could happen in the process, so it’s better to be safe than...
