Fans of the mobile game Super Mario Run will be thrilled to hear that on September 29 a new update is set to land and that update will bring some goodies to the game in terms of new game modes and content. The biggest gem is a new character in the form of Nintendo's Princess Daisy and she brings with her a new double-jump ability. That ability especially will give gamers new ways to collect coins when they play the game. Princess Daisy will also bring some new ways to play Toad Rally. You don't simply get to choose Princess Daisy from the character list and go play, you have to unlock her by playing... Read more...
It looks as though Nintendo will be bringing another iconic franchise to smartphones. Following the success it had with Super Mario Run on Android and iOS devices, Nintendo is said to be working on a Zelda game for mobile handsets simply called The Legend of Zelda. This would come sometime after the release of Animal Crossing, which is expected to debut on smartphones in the second half of 2017. Nintendo has not been quick to embrace the smartphone movement, choosing instead to focus on developing games for its own hardware. That has been a key to Nintendo's success and is a big reason why the... Read more...
Despite some complaints about the payment model, Super Mario Run has been a huge hit on iOS where the mobile game made its debut last December. It has been downloaded more than 78 million times, with 40 million of those downloads taking place in the first four days of availability. To keep the downloads (and revenue) coming, Nintendo has updated the game on iOS with some new content. Super Mario Run version 2.0.0 introduces new playable characters, including different colored Yoshis. Nintendo notes that gamers can play Toad Rally with a Yoshi of a particular color to get more Toads of that same... Read more...
“It’s-a Me, Mario!” After first hitting the iOS platform on December 15th, 2016, Super Mario Run finally has an arrival date for Android devices. Mark off March 23rd on your calendars, because that’s when Super Mario Run will hop on over to the Google Play Store. You are able to pre-register for the game, which will allow you to know almost instantaneously when it is available for download. As of January 31st, nearly 80 million people had downloaded the game for iOS (40 million people downloaded the game within the first four days of availability). By now, that figure is probably fast approaching... Read more...
Even though Nintendo’s Super Mario Run is currently only available on the iOS platform, it has still been a tremendous success for the Japanese company. The game has been downloaded over 78 million times since it was released in mid-December (40 million downloaded the game within the first four days of availability) and has generated about $53 million in revenue. What’s more impressive, however, is that the number of gamers that paid the $10 to unlock the full game stands at just over 5 percent. While that take-rate might see rather low at first, 5 percent is higher than many games that cost a... Read more...
Nintendo's first mobile game featuring its iconic plumber is headed to Android devices very soon. Super Mario Run launched on December 15th for iOS, but it looks as though Android users won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on the addictive, auto-running side scroller. Nintendo announced via Twitter that eager Mario fans can now pre-register to be notified when the game is officially available on Android. All you have to do is head over to the Google Play Store and press the “Pre-Register” button. At long last, Nintendo is beginning to embrace the massive market that is mobile gaming. The company's early involvement in bringing its iconic characters to smartphones has been nothing short of incredible—there was Pokemon Go, the mobile title by Niantic that licensed Nintendo's IP and created a gaming frenzy, followed by Nintendo's own Super Mario Run, which notched 5 million downloads in 24 hours. So why is Nintendo's stock dropping? Fickle investors, is the short answer. A longer answer involves the mobile title's payment structure. Super Mario Run is free to download, but after completing... Children of the 80’s and 90’s, rejoice! Super Mario Run is finally available on the iPhone and iPad. Hopefully your allowance is a little higher than it was in the glory days, because the game comes with hefty price tag (for a mobile game at least) of $10 USD to unlock the full version. According to Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, “The longer you continue to make a series, the more complex the gameplay becomes, and the harder it becomes for new players to be able to get into the series.” He views Super Mario Run as an opportunity to “make a game that the broadest audience of people could play”... In less than a week Nintendo will release its first official Mario game for smartphones, Super Mario Run. It's a big moment for Nintendo, which is starting to embrace gaming on mobile handsets, and Super Mario Run could end up being huge. That is, if Nintendo doesn't get in its own way. The reason that is a concern is because Super Mario Run will require a persistent Internet connection. Series creator and Super Mario Run producer Shigeru Miyamoto explained the decision to require an always-on Interconnection to Mashable in an interview, along with a string of other topics. In short, the online... Read more...
