We love teasers. We love television. Therefore, we must love teasers about streaming television. Sling Media has just put forth a new video tease concerning their upcoming Sling app, and it's a big one. While iOS and Android phones have had access to a proper Sling streaming application for some time now, Honeycomb tablet users have not. Poor, poor Honeycomb users. Now, that looks to be changing, as the SlingPlayer for Android app is just about the bend. We have been saying that AT&T could be in big trouble, particularly with its biggest competitor (Verizon Wireless, don't you know?) getting every major smartphone platform on its airwaves save for the iPhone. Echostar Communications, parent company of Dish Network, the satellite TV service, said yesterday they have come to an agreement to buy Sling Media, the privately-held company best known for its Slingbox device. EchoStar, parent of the Dish Network Satellite Television service, said the deal values Sling Media at approximately $380 million, payable in cash and EchoStar options. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2007, EchoStar said. The Slingbox connects cable and satellite TV set-top boxes to the Internet.
