There's some news out of Reutrers today that states Intel is already sampling 45nm Core Microarcitecture-based processors. Although not stated in the article, the 45nm core being sampled, codenamed "Penryn", is likely to incorporate more L2 cache than current Core 2 Duo processors, and will also have support for SSE4.
