OnePlus Z information has been leaking at a rapid clip in recent weeks, and today's latest reveal brings a few of the missing pieces surrounding the launch of the mid-range smartphone. India has emerged as a hotbed of activity in the low-cost smartphone realm, with major smartphone OEMs pouring resources into the country. There's no question that OnePlus is hopping back on the mid-range bandwagon after a half-decade absence, as the move was finally confirmed last month by company founder and CEO Pete Lau. “We can look at it as having a more affordable product offering,” said Lau at the time. “But all products that still remain up to the OnePlus standard… and through this enabling, more people to have access to OnePlus products." OnePlus burst onto the Android smartphone scene by offering a lot of features and performance for not a lot of money. However, in recent years, we've seen the prices of its devices creep upwards, making them closer in parity to some of the big names in the Android world. This year's OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro start at $699 and $899 respectively, but it looks as though there will be a cheaper offering coming later this year.
