Late last month, the OnePlus Nord 2 was announced as a feature-packed mid-range phone with a compelling price tag. The smartphone features a MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI SoC, a 6.43-inch Full HD OLED 90Hz display, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. No longer a rumor, OnePlus has confirmed it is launching a Nord 2 smartphone with 5G connectivity, though it will not be rocking a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset like the first iteration. Instead, this will be the first OnePlus device to feature a MediaTek system-on-chip (SoC). Perhaps equally surprising, OnePlus is billing the MediaTek-powered Nord 2 as a "flagship killer." As we stated in our OnePlus Nord review, the handset is an excellent mid-range 5G Android phone with a beautiful screen, versatile cameras, and strong performance for the money. Will the eventual Nord 2 follow in its predecessor's footsteps and offer the same kind of value proposition? We'll find out very soon—it's apparently launching in just a few months, and without a Qualcomm chip in tow. To be clear, there is no official release date for the Nord 2.
