A month ago, Amazon announced its intentions to acquire network hardware firm Eero for an undisclosed sum of money. Eero is famous for its tiny mesh routers that can be easily configured with an iOS or Android app, and their generally good overall performance. Eero might not be a household name, but it is one of the companies credited with sparking the rise of mesh router systems. Amazon has clearly seen the potential in the hardware/software that the company has developed and wants a piece of the action. Amazon announced this week that it has acquired Eero for an undisclosed amount. It's easy to see why Amazon would want to Eero under its umbrella. TP-Link has been making mesh routers in the Deco range for a while now that are designed to give you WiFi access all around a home or office. Last year, the company launched the Deco M5 mesh router and now the company has announced the new Deco M9 Plus. This mesh router is notable because in addition to offering WiFi coverage, it also has an integrated smart home hub for IoT devices. Mesh routers are all the rage these days, as they allow users to ensure that their whole home is blanketed in Wi-Fi while maintaining peak speeds throughout. Comcast is getting in on the action with the official nationwide launch of its xFi Pods, which are rebranded Plume Wi-Fi extenders with its own special firmware backed in and accompany software.
