The RBK23 consists of a primary Wi-Fi router/base that connects directly to your cable modem. There are then two satellites that you can place around your house to achieve optimum coverage and performance. According to Netgear, the RBK23 can cover up to a 6,000 sq ft home.
The router and both satellites have two Ethernet ports (although one of those ports on the router is served for the WAN), so you can hook up your wired devices. Compared to the RBK50, which is an AC3000 (1733 + 866 + 400) mesh routing system, the RBK23 is AC2200 (866 + 866 + 400).
This speed reduction means that the dedicated backhaul link between the router and the satellites is reduced from 1733 Mbps to 866 Mbps. However, it’s doubtful that regular consumers that simply want better Wi-Fi coverage in a larger home will miss those backhaul speeds.
