For many consumers, choosing a new smartphone is a difficult decision that usually boils down to a few prominent devices. With the current generation of smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S8+ and the new LG V30 are likely to be among the most popular options for consumers looking for a large screen device. The Galaxy S8+ is widely considered one of the best Android-based smartphones on the market. And although it was just announced a few days ago, we have already spent some hands on time with the LG V30 and figure it's lining-up to be a fantastic Android flagship device that is... Read more...
LG has teased only a handful of details about its upcoming V30 handset after unveiling the flagship phone at IFA in Berlin earlier this week. One of the unknowns is the price, or so that was the case initially. According to the fine print of a Twitter contest that LG is promoting, the unlocked version of the V30 has an approximate retail value (AVR) of $749.99 in the United States. As part of the contest, LG is giving away three V30 phones for free. Those who are eligible need only retweet the following Twitter post to enter: We're giving away 3 LG V30s to celebrate the launch of the 3rd V series... Read more...

Set for an official IFA 2017 unveiling, the new handset has been leaked, rumored and even teased by LG itself. LG in fact has been on a consistent marketing blitz, releasing bits and pieces of LG V30 features to keep the buzz factor and discussion of its new device at peak volume. The LG G6 was first announced back in late February, which seems like ages ago when it comes to flagship smartphones. Since that time, we’ve seen a number of competitors enter the fray including the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, OnePlus 5, Essential Phone and Motorola Moto Z2 Plus. With that in mind, third- and fourth-place U.S. wireless carriers T-Mobile and Sprint are offering discounts on both the LG G6 and the LG V30. Over at T-Mobile, the LG G6 is being offered for $20 down and $20 per month, which makes its total price $500. Likewise, the LG V20 is available for $0 down and $20 per month,... Read more...
It will not be long before LG officially unveils its delicious new flagship phone, the V30. Until then, there are plenty of leaks to whet your appetite. The latest one comes from Evan Blass, the infamous inside man who goes @evleaks on Twitter. Blass posted what are undoubtedly officially press renders of the LG V30, giving viewers a full-on view of the handset from just about ever angle. The leaked renders show off the 6-inch organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display with reduced bezels compared to LG's V6, the two of which appear very similar to each other. If the G6 and Samsung's Galaxy S8... Read more...
LG is really hyping up the release of its upcoming V30 Android flagship. Rather than save all of the details surrounding the smartphone for its official unveil, LG has been dropping little nuggets of information here and there to satiate our short attention spans. Today, LG announced that the UX 6.0+ interface will debut on the LG V30. UX 6.0+ is an overlay for the Android operating system and includes LG’s “special sauce”, so to speak, allowing the V30 to stand out from its peers. In this case, UX 6.0+ brings new features, including what’s called a Floating Bar. The Floating Bar takes the place... Read more...
There is not a lot that is known about LG's unreleased V30 handset, the single-screen successor the dual-display V20 that we reviewed last year. But while much of the phone's specs remain a mystery, LG did reveal a few tidbits—the V30 will be the first handset to feature a plastic OLED FullVision display. It will also be LG's first OLED smartphone since the LG G Flex 2 released in 2015.LG is shifting from an IPS panel on the V20 (above) to a plastic OLED screen on the V30 "Expertise in OLED has long been a core competency of LG, and the technology has always been seen as a potential value-add for... If history is any indication, LG is getting ready announce another handset as part of its V series. This will most likely take place during a press event at this year's IFA in Berlin, Germany. While LG has not come right out and said it will be announcing the V30 at IFA, the hints are anything but subtle—the letter V is splashed across a press rendering of a new smartphone with rounded corners, along with the words "Save the date" printed on top. That date is August 31, one day before IFA officially kicks off. And on the bottom corner, LG's press rendering says, "Berlin, Germany," which is where... Read more...
If we had a say in the matter, all smartphone displays would migrate to OLED (organic light emitting diode) panels. In our opinion, Samsung's Super AMOLED displays (as found on the Galaxy S8/S8+) are unrivaled in terms of overall picture quality, though perhaps not for much longer. Rival LG Electronics is said to be making the switch to OLED displays starting with its forthcoming large screen V30 handset. That one is due out in September. After that, LG will launch its flagship G7 phone sometime next year, and that will also feature an OLED screen. In both cases, LG will pull the majority of OLED... Read more...
