LG V30 Flagship To Flaunt A 2-Year Warranty For US Consumers

It looks as though LG is going to do US customers a solid by offering a full 2-year warranty on its forthcoming V30 smartphone. Other than being specific to the US, the caveat (and it is not really much of one) is that customers will have to register their V30 handsets within 90 days from purchase. Doing so activates what LG is marketing as a "Second Year Promise."

The added year is a nice bonus. While LG has not yet announced a price for the V30, it is a safe bet that like all high-end smartphones, it will cost several hundred dollars—rumor has it the device will command 800,000 Korean Won in South Korea, or around $700 in US currency. Having that additional 12 months is a value-add that could help sway potential buyers who might be on the fence between the V30 and a different device.

It was actually AT&T that broke the news of the 2-year warranty. The wireless carrier posted a video to YouTube highlighting the features of the V30, such as its 6-inch FullVision display and water-resistant body. But at the 53-second mark, the video tips LG's second year promise. AT&T may have jumped the gun in revealing that tidbit, as the video is no longer available for viewing.


Other things we know about V30 so far is that it will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip (SoC), dual cameras that LG claims will offer sharpness and color clarity on par with a high-end DSLR, and MIL_STD 810G certification for durability.

The V30 will come standard with 64GB of onboard storage. LG also said there will be a V30 Plus with 128GB of storage in some markets. It's not clear if that will be available in the US or not. Color options for the V30 will include Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue, and Lavender Violet.
