"Don't be evil" -- that used to be part of Google's corporate code of conduct until last year. With that unofficial motto now gone, it may not be too surprising that Google has been fingered for a rather underhanded move regarding song lyrics that pop up in Google search (among other things). Genius, a popular song lyrics site, is accusing Google of blatantly and directly copying content from its site to populate its results panel when someone search for song lyrics. There are a number of lyrics sites on the web, so how could Genius possibly know that Google was stealing content from its website in particular? Well, here's the genius part of it the whole sting operation: Genius digitally... Read more...
It should come as no surprise that Apple is rolling out the red carpet for customers that purchase the Apple Watch Edition. The smartphone starts at a whopping $10,000 and goes for as much as $17,000 in the top-end configuration. As a result, Apple Watch Edition customers will be given special treatment — at least compared to other Apple Watch buyers — including allowing them to cut the line when it comes to in-store demos. But the new Genius GX Maurus X has a price tag of $49.90, even with a bunch of gamer-friendly features. The Maurus X is black and red, with red lighting in the logo and mouse wheel, but enough about the bling. The features that matter are the DPI button, which cycles from 800 to 4000 DPI (a handy feature in FPS games) and support... Read more...

Remember those awful Genius ads Apple began airing during the Olympics? Reactions to the ads were overwhelmingly negative and were somewhat surprising for a multi-billion dollar company known for more creative ad spots that typically focused on the product. These new ads did not, and instead cast Apple users in an idiotic light. Or at least they used to. The new ads are no longer airing, and officially, that was the plan all along. TBWA/Media/Arts Lab, the ad agency in charge of the commercials, claim they were never intended to run past the Olympics in London. "The ads were intended only for a 'first run' during the Olympcs, which meant just the first weekend of the Games," one of the ad agency's... Read more...
