AMD is tired of playing second fiddle to the competition and is making a spirited run for the performance crown, both in CPUs (Ryzen 5000 series, or Zen 3) and GPUs (Radeon RX 6000 series, or RDNA 2). At the very least, things are about to get very interesting. Coming along for the ride is EKWB, a stalwart in the liquid cooling business, which is teaming up with AMD to release some specially designed water blocks and cooling products. Frank Azor, one of the co-founders of Alienware who joined AMD as its chief architect of gaming solutions last year (and who we spoke with a few months on our 2.5 Geeks Podcast), gave EKWB a shout out during the Radeon RX 6000 series launch even yesterday. It’s fall and it has been quite a while since we gave away a hardcore gaming PC, so we thought what better way to say good-bye summer and usher in the season of crunchy leaves and pumpkin-spice lattes, than to give away an awesome gaming rig? This time around we’ve teamed up with the good folks at EK Fluid Gaming, who put together one heck of a gorgeous, all-AMD system – and it could be yours! EKFG graciously offered up one of its beautiful, liquid-cooled 270 Conquest gaming PCs, powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 3800X processor and Radeon RX 5700 XT. Take a look at this bad boy...  The complete parts list and breakdown for this custom gaming rig includes: EK Fluid Gaming 270 Conquest... Read more...
Back at PAX East 2020 in March, we were captivated by the systems we saw at the EK booth that all featured an incredibly clean looking hard line liquid cooling setup. We were surprised to learn, however, that these were not custom builds on display to showcase EK’s renowned water blocks and fittings. Instead, EK has jumped into the boutique pre-built computer space with a line-up they are calling EK Fluid Gaming. The Fluid Gaming systems are a bit of natural offering for EK. The bulk of the gaming PC market is incredibly competitive and price sensitive. Instead of wheeling and dealing in this space with razor-thin margins, EK can leverage their custom liquid cooling pedigree to offer... Read more...
Don't feel bad if you were not able to buy a GeForce RTX 3080 yesterday—a lot of people are in the same boat. The card is in high demand, and understandably so (it's a gaming monster). Eventually the stock situation will be resolved (fingers crossed, anyway), and when you do get one, EK has a new series of nifty water blocks to liquid cool your card. Not just for the GeForce RTX 3080, either. EK, for anyone who is not familiar, is a stalwart in the liquid cooling scene with an assortment of products, including custom loop parts, bundled kits, all-in-one coolers, and more recently it added a line of pre-built PCs with liquid cooling to the mix. Now it has launched a set of water blocks for... Read more...
At this point, practically every person on the planet knows NVIDIA is getting ready to introduce a new round of graphics card for consumers, based on its Ampere GPU. The big day is presumably September 1, which is when NVIDIA will hold a GeForce Special Event. As we await, the liquid cooling folks at EK Water Blocks have jumped on the hype train by teasing upcoming designs that could be ready in time for launch. On the company's official Facebook page, EKWB has been active reminiscing about past water block designs, as part of NVIDIA's Ultimate Countdown campaign reflecting on 21 years of GPUs. And it is through those posts that we get some hints of EKWB's future product plans. That's because... Read more...
