Following a global recall its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones with battery packs that were prone to catching fire, Samsung and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have issued a warning about the company's top-loading washing machines after reports of some models exploding. HP is extending its worldwide recall program for batteries in certain laptops due to a potential to overhead and pose a fire hazard. The original laptop battery recall program was announced on May 14 of last year and updated in October. Now, HP is adding additional battery models to the recall. The batteries that are being recalled are used in more than 30 models worldwide in Compaq Presario, Pavilion, HP, and HP Compaq notebooks. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission advises users to remove the recalled battery from their notebook and contact HP to determine if the battery is included in the recall and to request a free replacement battery.
