It's rumored that Intel and NVIDIA have something big planned for April 2nd. Word on the street is that we'll see the official launch of 10th generation Comet Lake-H mobile processors alongside GeForce RTX Super mobile GPUs. Leading further credence to these rumors is an extensive leak from MSI in the form of the GS66 Stealth family of gaming laptops. This laptop has "flagship status" written all over it, as it features Intel's top-dog Core i9-10980HK. This is an 8-core/16-thread processor with base and maximum turbo clocks of 3.1GHz and 5.3GHz respectively. The Core i9-10980HK is paired with 32GB of DDR4-2666 memory and a 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD. If that wasn't enough, MSI is also... Read more...
When Intel first announced the impending arrival of its Comet Lake-H mobile processors, the company confirmed that there would be SKUs available with 5GHz+ turbo clocks. Those are quite impressive frequencies for mobile processors; especially ones that are built on Intel's venerable 14nm process node. Today, a fresh leak is giving us some insight into just how far these chips will be able to boost their clocks. According to a leaked slide that was posted by momomo_us (and apparently subsequently removed) the maximum turbo clock for these Comet Lake-H processors will be 5.3GHz. That 5.3GHz turbo clock will reportedly be reserved for the flagship Core i9-10980HK, which will feature 8... Read more...
Some powerful gaming laptops are on the horizon. AMD is promising big things from its Ryzen 4000 "Renoir" APUs, and Intel is prepping a lineup of Comet Lake silicon. As it pertains to the latter, a leaked benchmark entry highlights a laptop configuration with a 10th generation Intel Core i9-10980HK Comet Lake-H CPU paired with a GeForce RTX 2080 Super with Max-Q Design. That is a potent combination for sure. Starting with the CPU, the Core i9-10980HK is an unreleased part based on Comet Lake-H (14nm+++). It wields 8 cores and 16 threads with a 3.1GHz base clock and 5GHz boost clock, along with 16MB of L3 cache and a 45W TDP. It sits at the top of the upcoming Comet Lake-H stack. Now here is where... Intel stated at CES 2020 that laptops sporting 10th generation Comet Lake-H processors would be shipping soon, including models with speeds hitting (and surpassing) 5GHz. What kind of performance might those laptops bring? Rather than wonder, some leaked benchmark listings on Geekbench provide us some clues. As spotted by Twitter user APISAK, there are three Geekbench listings claiming to represent Intel's Core i9-10980HK processor. Intel has not yet spilled the beans on its entire Comet Lake-H lineup, in terms of models names and specifications. However, the company has said they will ship with up to 8 cores and 16 threads of computing muscle, with 5GHz being achieved on Core i7 and "even higher... Read more...
