Roku has released its earnings report for the last quarter of 2019, and the company did very well, exceeding expectations. The earnings report says that the company brought in $1.1 billion in revenue for the full year of 2019. The company also says that it reinforced its position as America's number one TV streaming platform (measured by hours streamed). Roku notes that 2019 was a big year for TV streaming with a "massive" shift of the TV ecosystem that gained momentum. The cable/satellite industry is finally having to face the music: customers are getting tired of rising TV service prices and are looking for alternative solutions. According to a recent report, Americans are fleeing cable and satellite TV packages at an increasing rate as they flock to OTA local channel broadcasts paired with streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. AT&T is looking for a way to entice customers to sign up for its new DirecTV Now streaming service, and according to a fresh report, you could receive a free media streamer if you sign your name on the dotted line. Information concerning AT&T’s promotions were accidentally revealed online, but the company wasn’t able to pull down the information before snooping eyes got a glimpse of what’s in store for consumers.
