Beginning tomorrow, DICE will launch a major update for Battlefield V entitled Tides of War Chapter 1: Overture. That name is quite a mouthful, but the update/patch brings with it a number of new features and even performance updates. As for actual gameplay, there are new multiplayer maps and changes to the core mechanics of the game. There's even a new single-player experience in the form of "The Last Tiger" War Story. This campaign will let you crew a Tiger I tank along enemy lines. You can also partake in action on the new Panzerstorm map (set in the Belgium countryside) during multiplayer outings. Are you eager to get an early shot at Battlefield V? Well, Electronic Arts (EA) has announced the start time for the game's open beta and it is just a few days away: September 4th at 1am PST.  This is the date that the game will be available to those who have pre-ordered the game or those that are members of EA Access, Origin Access Premier or Origin Access Beta. This early access to the open beta will only be exclusive for two days. Then, on September 6th (1am PST), all Origin players on the PC, along with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles will have access to the open beta. The next Battlefield installment has already generated a ton of buzz, some of which is focused on the prominent role women soldiers will play in the game—Battlefield V will be the first in the series to feature female characters on the front lines. We say 'Kudos!' to developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts for the decision. You can rake in a boatload of money with a "free" game these days: all you need to do is look at the insane popularity and over a billion dollars in revenue that Fortnite has generated for proof. EA is one of the biggest game publishers on the planet and Battlefield is one of its biggest franchises. Battlefield 5 was the expected name of DICE and Electronic Arts’ latest shooter, but a new leak just ahead of the game’s office debut reveals that this isn’t the case at all. In fact, DICE has turned the clock back to Battlefield 1. While Call of Duty is delving further into the depths of space with Infinite Warfare (to the horror of series veterans), the latest edition of Battlefield is going back in time to World War 1. Brace yourself, Battlefield 5's world premier is coming. In the meantime, go ahead and grab your detective cap, you're going to need it. In anticipation of today's world premier, which is scheduled for 4PM Eastern (1PM Pacific), DICE and Electronic Arts have taken to social media to tease eager gamers with clues about the Battlefield 5, including an extremely short video. The clip is less than 10 seconds long and you have to look very closely for subtle hints. All you see is the neck up of a rendered soldier with detailed facial features, including dirt and the pits of his skin.
