Intel SSD DC P4510 NVMe PCIe Review: Blistering 3GB/s Transfers, With Low Latency

Intel SSD DC P4510 - The Verdict

Performance Summary: The Intel SSD DC P4510 drives we tested offered strong performance in our benchmarks. The 2TB Intel SSD DC P4510 series drive generally performed in the same neighborhood as the previous-gen SSD DC P3700 in terms of transfer speeds, though the bigger 8TB drive pulled ahead more often than not, especially in terms of writes where the 8TB model often exceeded 3GB/s. The Intel SSD DC P4510 drive also offered excellent access times relative to the other drives we tested, and they put up strong IOPs scores, especially at lower queue depths.

Intel’s goal with the SSD DC P4510 series was to increase performance and density, while simultaneously improving QoS and latency versus previous-gen offerings, and the company has done just that. The SSD DC P4510 series drives we tested put up strong numbers across the board, which is great considering their price points. These drives have considerable price tags at about $1,200 for the 2TB model and $5,500 for the 8TB model, but when you break that down into cost-per-gigabyte, they’re not much more expensive than some of the faster consumer-targeted SSDs currently on the market. At their current street prices, the Intel SSD SC P4510 series is available for $0.59 to $0.67 per gigabyte, which is fairly aggressive considering their strong overall performance, endurance, and warranty.
