Digital Storm Bolt II: Devil’s Canyon Inside

Developed by Relic Entertainment and published by Sega, Company of Heroes 2 is an online World War II real-time strategy game (RTS) that uses Relic’s Essence Engine 3.0 to create realistic, snowy battlefields. We ran this game’s benchmark at 1920x1200, 2560x1600, and 3840x2160 resolutions. We set the Anti-Aliasing setting to medium and Image Quality to Higher. All other settings were put on High.

The Bolt II handled Company of Heroes 2 like a champ, putting up the highest average frame rate among our comparison systems at the 1920x1200 resolution. At higher resolutions, the Bolt II settled into the ranks a bit, but still provided strong frame rates.

Josh cut his teeth (and hands) on his first PC upgrade in 2000 and was instantly hooked on all things tech. He took a degree in English and tech writing with him to Computer Power User Magazine and spent years reviewing high-end workstations and gaming systems, processors, motherboards, memory and video cards. His enthusiasm for PC hardware also made him a natural fit for covering the burgeoning modding community, and he wrote CPU’s “Mad Reader Mod” cover stories from the series’ inception until becoming the publication editor for Smart Computing Magazine.  A few years ago, he returned to his first love, reviewing smoking-hot PCs and components, for HotHardware. When he’s not agonizing over benchmark scores, Josh is either running (very slowly) or spending time with family.
