Because we now have a few GeForce GTX 1080 cards on hand, we thought we'd share some SLI performance numbers as well. Please note that these numbers were recorded with the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SuperClocked card, paired to a GeForce GTX 1080 Founder's Edition...
These tests were run at a
4K resolution, with max image quality settings. As you can see, scaling was excellent, though we should point out we did NOT use one of the new
high-bandwidth SLI bridges. NVIDIA's drivers didn’t throw any errors, however, and properly identified the system as SLI capable when the second card was installed.
Although multi-GPU scaling is a more complex issue with the burgeoning Vulkan and DirectX 12 APIs, for DirectX 11 (and older) titles with proper SLI support, a pair of GeForce GTX 1080 cards is an absolute killer solution.
