ATI and RDI Improve DTV Signal Reception with Smart Antenna Technology -
ATI Nxtenna Technology and RDI DTV-5000 Antenna demonstrated at NAB Drafthouse:
MARKHAM, Ontario ? ATI
Technologies Inc. (TSX:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) and RDI Inc today announced the
exhibition of the new RDI DTV-5000 smart antenna, controlled by ATI?s Nxtenna
technology, at 2003 National Association of Broadcasters Conference in Las
Vegas, Nevada, using the EIA/CEA-909 Antenna Control Interface Standard.
Smart antenna technology enables optimal reception of ATSC (Advanced Television
Systems Committee) DTV signals. Classical TV antennas require the consumer to
adjust the antenna to receive signals in null signal conditions, when regional
transmit antennas are not co-located, or when reflections cause the reception
path to vary from channel to channel. Consumers using digital televisions and
antennas that comply with CEA Antenna Control Interface Standard (EIA/CEA-909)
simplify their off-air DTV experience by eliminating the need to manually adjust
the antenna to receive a clear picture. The standard allows DTV receivers to
optimize performance by adjusting the antenna gain, polarization, and beam
direction...READ
