Vivo Nex All-Screen Android Phone Drops The Notch And Adds Pop-up Selfie Camera
The Nex has a tiny bezel at the bottom, but is otherwise a near bezel-free exercise along the sides and the top. We'll forgive the minuscule bottom bezel given that Vivo hasn't joined the "trendy" display notch bandwagon. Vivo says that the screen-to-body ratio of the smartphone stands at an impressive 91.24 percent. Oh, and the Ultra FullView display measures a massive 6.59 inches with a 1080p+ resolution.
As we previously reported, the earpiece speaker has been replaced by screen soundcasting technology that vibrates the display glass to direct sounds towards your ear. However, the display and soundcasting aren't the only tricks up Vivo's sleeve; it also uses an in-display fingerprint sensor. Vivo introduced the new-age fingerprint sensor in the X21 smartphone, and it lives on here in the Nex. And we can't forget the pop-up selfie 8MP camera, which was necessitated by the all-screen design.
When it comes to hardware specs, the Nex aims to impress. You'll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor paired with a generous 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and a large 4,000 mAh battery. There are two cameras on the back: a 12MP sensor with f/1.8 lens and a 5MP sensor with f/2.4 lens.
It should be noted that Vivo will also make a slightly less boisterous version SKU available with a Snapdragon 710 processor, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
For now, the Vivo Nex appears to be a China-only proposition, where it will be priced at just under $800. Given its specs, lack of a notch, and attractive pricing (at least compared to the $999 iPhone X), we'd love to get our hands on this beauty here in the United States.
