Toys R Us Restocking Elusive Nintendo Switch 9AM Saturday, Go Get Your Zelda On

If you have been hunting for a Nintendo Switch, you might as well go out looking for Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster while you're at it. The hybrid console has proven just as elusive. However, it does actually exist and with a little luck (and inside information), it's not impossible to find. To that end, we just received word from Toys R Us that its brick-and-mortar locations will be replenished with fresh stock this Saturday, March 25. Zelda fans rejoice!

That does not mean you can mosey on over to your local Toys R Us at your leisure this weekend and get your hands on a Switch. This is a highly popular console—more so than Nintendo anticipated, which is not unusual these days, actually—and if you're hoping to score one you'll want to be there before the doors open at 9 AM.

"We recommend customers get in line early, as we expect these units to be snapped up quickly when the doors open at 9 AM," a Toys R Us spokesperson told HotHardware.

So how early should you plan on getting there? That's a good question, and unfortunately we do not have a definitive answer. Toys R Us didn't tell us exactly how much stock each store will receive. It will likely vary by location. So too will the crowds—in higher population areas, it's not inconceivable that gamers might camp out the night before.

Like the NES Classic Edition that came out before Christmas last year, Nintendo can't produce Switch consoles fast enough to meet demand. Nintendo is working to rectify this—it was reported earlier this month that Nintendo had doubled its order of Switch consoles from 8 million to 16 million for its fiscal year starting April 2017.

No other console in Nintendo's history has gotten off to such a fast start. Sales of the Switch during its first two days of availability eclipsed every other Nintendo console that came before it, including the Wii, which previously held the record for most sales during launch.

The Switch is also benefiting from a new Zelda series game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which has been racking up positive reviews left and right. Nintendo will look to keep the momentum going with more titles featuring iconic characters, such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe due out at the end of next month.
