"Plextor Selects Decisionmark's TitanTV Electronic Program Guide for PC-Based Personal Video Recorder with MPEG-4 and DivX"
FREMONT, Calif. - September 20, 2004 - Plextor(R) Corp., a leading developer and manufacturer of high-performance digital media equipment, and Decisionmark(R) Corp., today announced a partnership aimed at offering consumers exciting new choices in the realm of digital video recording. Plextor has selected Decisionmark's TitanTV(R) electronic program guide (EPG) for the new ConvertX Personal Video Recorder, enabling users to find and record television shows more easily than before using user-friendly features such as automatic searches, category filters, and schedule reminders.
The Plextor ConvertX PX-TV402U captures and records broadcast, cable, or satellite TV onto a computer hard drive via a tuner card. Unlike digital video recorders that connect to a television set, such as TiVO(R) and Replay(R), ConvertX and TitanTV do not require a monthly service fee. ConvertX also allows users to burn programs onto CDs and DVDs, and it supports real-time hardware encoding to MPEG-4 and DivX(R) for three times greater compression than MPEG-2 without quality loss.

For recording television shows, the Plextor ConvertX tightly integrates TitanTV with InterVideo WinDVR 5 software. A user simply selects the EPG button in the WinDVR 5 software to bring up a picture-in-picture screen containing the TitanTV.com web site. A single mouse-click over a program listing schedules it to record. During live television viewing, WinDVR supports all of the time-shifting features normally associated with PVRs, including pausing live TV, skipping forward and instant replays.

Pioneer DVR-108 16x Dual Layer DVD+/-RW Drive Review @ 3DX
"The DVR-108 is capable of writing at speeds up to 16x maximum on DVD-R and +R discs that are designed for this recording speed, as well as specified 8x media. With 16x media not yet available, Pioneer's DVR-108 is allowing customers to write on currently available 8x media at faster speeds by capitalizing on Pioneer's over specification technology, a writing strategy designed to allow the DVR-108 to record at higher speeds with certain media. The double-layer technology extends data storage capacity on DVD recordable discs from 4.7 gigabytes to 8.5 gigabytes. The new drive is also dual format, which support DVD-R and DVD-RW disc formats as well as the +R and +RW formats to eliminate consumer confusion."

PimpRig Review: PolarFLO TT Series 2 Port Waterblock
"The PolarFLO TT Series waterblock is designed for performance, but aesthetics are also kept in mind. The TT Series is offered in Red, like the one I received, and is also flavored Blue, Black, or Chrome; you just need to pick the color that best fits in with your case theme. The mounting method is ingenious in that there is no need to switch out the mounting plate for newer boards. The block will fit on Intel socket 478, 603, and 604 boards and AMD socket 754, 939, and 940 boards without having to change the mounting plate."
Albatron PX915G Pro review @ OCModShop
"This motherboard has a lot of connections on the back of it. Aside from the PS/2, serial, parallel ports which are common to most motherboards there is also onboard video, 7.1 audio, gigabit NIC, 10/100 NIC, and four USB 2.0. Onboard video is nice for lower end systems which will save some people money on buying a separate video card. The socket is one of the biggest changes that comes with the new LGA775 standard. There are now shorter capacitors around the socket and four holes for mounting the heatsink."
