NVIDIA Announces GeForce Gaming Celebration At Gamescom, GeForce Turing Unveil Expected

Is this the big event that the gaming community has been waiting for? Are we going to finally see the big reveal for the GeForce GTX 11 Series of graphics cards? Well, that appears to be the case according to an email that NVIDIA sent out to the tech press and a blog that it has posted in reference to this year's Gamescom.

While Gamescom, which is being held in Cologne, Germany, is dedicated to all things gaming, NVIDIA will be holding its own off-site GeForce Gaming Celebration on August 20th. According to the company, there will be "exclusive, hands-on demos of the hottest upcoming games, stage presentations from the world’s biggest games developers, and some spectacular surprises".

We can only hope that the "spectacular" surprises are the long-awaited GeForce GTX 1180 and GeForce GTX 1170 along with other "lesser" members of Turing GPU family.

Even though this event will be geared towards the press, anyone can show up -- you simply have to register here. But even if you do register and make the trip to Germany for the event, attendees will be let in on a first come, first served basis due to limited space. For everyone else, you can simply watch the livestream from the comfort of your own home or office.

According to recent rumors, here's the GPU lineup that we expect will be released over the next few months:

  • GeForce GTX 1180 on August 30th
  • GeForce GTX 1170/1180+ on September 30th
  • GeForce GTX 1160 on October 30th

There have been rumors that pricing for these new graphics cards might be a bit higher than we're used to in part due to the cryptocurrency boom that took off in the second half of 2017. Cryptocurrency mining drove GPU prices through the stratosphere and they are just now starting to fall back down to MSRP-level after the Bitcoin/Ethereum rush went "splat".
