Do you own a crummy or outdated wireless router? If so, you may not be getting the Internet service you're paying for, especially if you are situated a fair distance away from your router. You can rectify this by buying a modern, high-performance router, and it just so happens that the Linksys EA7500-RM Max-Stream AC1900 is on sale for a ridiculously low $51.99 right now. The sale is good for today only, or until the earmarked units sell out.
This router model normally has an MSRP of $159.99, and currently sells on Amazon for $139.99. However, Woot (owned by Amazon) is selling "factory recertified" units for $51.99 today, saving you at least $88. Factory reconditioned means it was "returned, inspected, and restored to fully working condition by the original manufacturer or a certified partner."
Linksys provides a 90-day warranty, giving you plenty of time to test it out to make sure it's working properly. You can also tack on a 1-year protection plan from Square Trade for $10.99, if you want added piece of mind. Even if you go that route, you're coming out well ahead of buying a new model, saving at least $77, and closer to $100 versus the MSRP.
The router itself is a fast, dual-band model that offers speeds of up to 1,300Mbps on the 5GHz band and 600Mps on the 2.4GHz band (we pitted it against a Netgear Nighthawk X4S and came away impressed). It supports a host of modern technologies, such as beamforming for concentrated connections to devices (as opposed to blasting out the wireless signals haphazardly), and MU-MIMO, which means it can communicate with more than device at the same time. MU-MIMO can reduces instances of buffering and have other performance benefits, versus SU-MIMO routers that rapidly switch between devices.
Other amenities include a built-in 4-port switch for wired connections and two USB ports (USB 3.0 and 2.0) for connecting things like printers and external storage devices.
