Hybrid 2-in-1 convertibles is one of the fastest growing sectors of the global PC market, and OEMs are understandably hammering the segment hard. ASUS has given us numerous generations of its Transformer convertibles over the years, and continues that tradition today with the official launch of the Transformer 3 Mini and Transformer 3 Pro.

Starting off with the Transformer 3 Mini, this tablet has a thin and light frame, which is capped by its 10.1-inch display (1280x800 resolution). The convertible weighs 1.75 pounds with its keyboard/cover attached (1.17 pounds without) and measures just 8.2mm thick. Powering the Transformer 3 Mini is an Intel Core x5-8350 processor with 4GB of RAM, and you’ll find 128GB of eMMC storage onboard. However, you can use the included microSD slot to boost storage by an additional 512GB.

Other features include a USB 3.0 port, micro HDMI, microUSB (for charging), rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, and a 32Wh battery. The keyboard cover and an ASUS pen stylus are both included in the box with the Transformer 3 Mini.

On the high-end of the convertible market, you’ll find the Transformer 3 Pro, which has enough processing power to blow its smaller “Mini” sibling out of the water. The convertible is rockin’ a 12.6-inch 2880x1920 anti-glare display with 178-degree viewing angles. Powering the Transformer 3 Pro is an Intel Core i7-6500U processor along with 16GB of RAM. Storage duties are handled by a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD.

The Transformer 3 Pro is enhanced by a USB 3.1 Thunderbolt Type-C port, 13MP main camera, 8MP front-facing camera, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, Harmon Kardon-tuned speakers, and a 39Whr battery. The Thunderbolt port will not only allow the Transformer 3 Pro to hook up with the ASUS XG Station II external graphics card, but also the optional ASUS Universal Dock. The dock adds a USB 3.0 Type-A port, full-size HDMI, VGA, Ethernet and a 3-in-1 SD reader.

ASUS is also introducing a slate tablet called the ZenPad 3S 10, which features a 9.7-inch QXGA (2048x1536) display, MediaTek 8176 processor, and 4GB RAM. It also incorporates a microSD slot for storage expansion. The tablet runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with ZenUI 3.0 layered on top.
