Apex Legends' High Octane Battle Pass Details Leak Early Via Origin Store
Apex Legends has been a massive success for EA having surged to over 50 million players in a month, and the game is putting immense pressure on its battle royale rival, Fortnite. A leak earlier this week claimed that a new character was coming to the game called Octane. And another fresh leak via Origin, the EA game store, has given weight to that previous rumor with the same original art for the Octane character on the landing page.
The Origin leak didn't tip a specific launch date for Octane, or the associated Season 1 Battle Pass for the game. However, if the landing page is being tweaked and readied, the launch must be close. Some expected that the battle pass would land yesterday, March 12th, but Respawn threw water on those rumors. "We’ll be providing details on Season 1, Battle Pass, and the next Legend very soon. It’s not coming out today," wrote Respawn community manager Jay Frechette on reddit. He added:
There’s lots of stuff that has been datamined from Apex since launch and is swirling around the Internet. We know this stuff is fun to dig up and speculate about, but you should not treat any of that info as a source of truth...Finding this stuff by no means confirms that it’ll ever come out. At best you should treat any posts about this as a rumor and the real info will come from us when we’re ready to show off what’s coming next.
The landing page seemingly confirmed that the update would be called Wild Frontier. The purchase price for the Season 1 Battle Pass is called out as 950 Apex Coins, which will cost about $10.
