Amazon is inviting certain members of the press to an upcoming major hardware event scheduled for September 25, where the company will undoubtedly reveal new products. So if you are eyeballing a home-grown hardware device that has not been updated in a bit, you may want to hold off to see what Amazon has in store.

There is not much information to go on, other than the date and what type of event will be taking place. For example, Amazon did not mention exactly what product launches are in store. However, around this same time a year ago, Amazon introduced a bunch of new hardware products, including a revamped Echo Dot, second-generation Echo Show, Fire TV Recast, and several other items.

Amazon also took the opportunity to roll out new features, like the ability to make Skype calls with the Echo Show. So, new products and features are surely on the way.

The upcoming products will join some recent additions to Amazon's hardware lineup. For example, Amazon launched a nifty new Fire TV Cube streaming box with HDR10+ support and local voice control, earlier this month. And back in June, Amazon announced the launch of a new line of Toshiba Fire TV models with Dolby Vision. Amazon also launched its Echo Show 5 device just a few months ago.

Generally speaking, we are coming into the best time of year to purchase new hardware. New releases from Amazon means enhanced features and functionality are right around the corner, and probably discounts on previous generation equipment. In addition, the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales will be rolling into view soon.

We will be following (and reporting on) Amazon's hardware announcements in the coming weeks. And of course we will be covering any tantalizing deals we spot, so be sure to check back often.
