The PlayStation brand has meant big business for
Sony over the past [nearly] 25 years, and during that time, we’ve seen the release of the
PlayStation,
PlayStation 2,
PlayStation 3 and the current
PlayStation 4. Since its inception, Sony has sold a cumulative 500 million PlayStation consoles worldwide, and to commemorate the event, the company is launching a new special edition console for gamers.
It’s called the 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro, and the most eye-catching feature is perhaps its translucent blue shell (with bronze trim) and matching DualShock 4 wireless controller. This fetching finish allows you to see the PS4 Pro’s (and controller’s) innards, and there’s even a plaque on the front of the device emblazoned with its serial number.
The other standout feature is that it comes with a 2TB hard drive, doubling the capacity of current PlayStation 4 Pro consoles. Also bundled with the console is a PlayStation Camera.
Sony is only producing 50,000 of these limited edition consoles for distribution worldwide. According to the company, it will be available on August 24th, although pricing hasn’t been announced at this time.
