Huawei Mate 10 Pro To Be Sold Via Major Retailers In U.S. Starting At $799
Earlier this week, we talked about Huawei's deal with AT&T falling through, with the America's second-largest wireless carrier backing away from selling the Mate 10 Pro smartphone. The reason the deal fell apart according to sources familiar with the deal was pushback from the House and Senate intelligence committees who feared a Chinese company gaining major inroads in the U.S. Huawei has now announced its plans at CES 2018 for rolling the Mate 10 Pro out in the States.
Odds are that this big announcement at CES 2018 was supposed to be done in conjunction with AT&T, but we digress. What Huawei has announced is that the Mate 10 Pro will be offered in the U.S. via major retailers including Best Buy, Amazon, Microsoft, Newegg, and B&H starting on February 18. Pre-orders for the smartphone will kick off on February 4.
The smartphone will be offered in Midnight Blue, Titanium Gray, and Mocha Brown for $799, which is less than the converted price the devices sells for in Europe. The smartphone will operate on GSM networks including AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, MetroPCS, Simple Mobile, and TracFone.
"We’ve experienced unprecedented growth worldwide and are now bringing our award-winning products to the U.S., said Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group. Huawei is and has been in the U.S., and is part of a community of visionaries that strive to push boundaries and improve daily lives through technology. Our newest consumer solution, the HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro, is the smartphone that U.S. consumers need and deserve."
Huawei will also offer a more expensive Porsche Design Mate 10 for $1,225 starting on February 18, and that device will be offered via Amazon, Best Buy, Microsoft, and Porsche Design Stores. This device promises the "ultimate premium design", will feature a Black Diamond color and is entirely encased in glass.
