CyberPowerPC is one of the boutique gaming PC builders that brought many interesting offerings to CES this year, and we got an up-close-and-in-person look at the bounty in the company’s hotel suite earlier this week. There are loads of new gaming systems rolling out during CES, including a host of Steam Machines (some of which are more ready for action than others), and CyberPowerPC has some more, including one that will make any gamer smile in spite of him- or herself. A company called AIO Robotics announced that it will be launching a Kickstarter campaign on September 4th to raise money for a 3D printer that also offers 3D “copying” (i.e., 3D scanning), and 3D faxing. (Yes, 3D faxing, as in you could “fax” someone a 3D file that would automatically print on their 3D printer. The use case on that seems quite narrow, although we suppose that if it’s perfected, it could have some benefit over time.) The printer may be given the name “Zeus”. Be careful what you click on, Facebook users. According to security outfit Trend Micro, variants of the info-stealing Zeus malware are "reemerging with a vengeance" and targeting Facebook users with increased tenacity in recent months. A surge of activity was noted in the beginning of February, but instead of leveling off, it continues to be active. The most common variants this time around are called "Citadel" or "GameOver," both of which send DNS queries to randomized domain names. When a user clicks on a malicious link, they're redirected to a website that gets busy dropping dirty files onto their PC. CyberPowerPC, like the other custom PC builders, is revamping its product offerings with Intel’s new 4th-generation Core (Haswell) processors and Z87-based motherboards. On the desktop side, the company’s FANG III and Gamer Xtreme lines (among others) will get the upgrades, as well as its Zeus EVO Thunder series. The FANGbook EVO gaming notebook will also be packing Haswell mobile processors, in addition to NVIDIA GTX 700 series mobile graphics. CyberPowerPC is a boutique PC builder known for, among other things, its Zeus line of custom gaming rigs, and the company is lending the brand name to a new series of all-in-one desktops, as well. The Zeus Touch series is now available and includes the Zeus Touch 1000, 2000, and 3000. The AIOs were made with a “minimalist tablet-like design” in mind, and all of them feature a 21.5-inch (1920x1080), ten-point touch LED display and Windows 8. If you've surfed the Internet for any length of time, chances are good that you've seen a browser window pop up with a warning that your computer is in DANGER from a whole slew of evil viruses. Such windows, if clicked on, often perform an utterly fake virus scan during which they invariably "detect" infected/contaminated files. Users are then prompted to purchase a registered copy of Antivirus 2010 in order to protect themselves.
