As the laptop onslaught continues, Dell has a new series to introduce. But these aren't your average laptops: these are business-minded machines that should be taken very, very seriously. In addition to the Inspiron R Series of notebooks Dell announced today, the company also revealed the new Vostro 3000 Series of business laptops. According to Dell, these laptops deliver more than 12 hours of battery life on select models and are the first small business laptops to feature SRS Premium Voice Pro. The Dell Vostro 3000 Series is available in 13-, 14-, 15- and 17-inch models. The series is powered by the latest Intel 2nd generation Core I series. It lives, it lives! The Vostro line lives! We're only kidding, but it has been some time since Dell took the time to radically update the lower-end, low-key Vostro lineup. That changes today with the new Vostro V130, a gorgeous new mobile PC that any road warrior should take into consideration. Dell claims that this is one of the thinnest and lightest ultraportables in the 13" form factor, and we have all ideas that Apple's recently released 13" MacBook Air is one of the reasons it can't be "the" thinnest/lightest in that size. However, the V130 is the first ultra-thin laptop to offer Hyperbaric Cooling, an Intel Advanced Cooling Technology that we dearly hope spreads to more machines quickly....

Let's face it: for as cool as the Adamo XPS is, it's hardly a reasonably priced machine. Even if you've got the cash, you know you're paying a huge premium for the seductive form factor. Just weeks after that 9.99mm thick machine launched, Dell has now introduced what could easily be mistaken as the Adamo XPS' weaker sibling: the Vostro V13.What's wild is just how similar this new Vostro looks compared to the Adamo XPS. What's even wilder is that the Vostro line has generally held boring, all-business notebooks that most consumers simply overlooked in favor of the more fashionable Adamo and Studio lines. By and large, Dell's Vostro range is still largely unappreciated and under the radar. The Latitude line seems to get way more attention in business uses, and the Inspiron line gets way more love from consumers. And of course, the XPS/Alienware line gets all the attention from gamers. The Vostro line, however, still stands out as offering a real value to consumers who just need a basic machine to handle basic tasks. You know, Dell's Vostro lineup is really turning into one to watch. While it's admittedly aimed at the business users in the crowd, a lot of the systems are perfectly suitable for everyday consumers. Earlier this week, we were blown away by how stylish eMachine's newest all-in-one PC was. Clearly, the engineers at Dell aren't taking the competition lightly, as the company's newest Vostro is just as much a looker. The new all-in-one desktop is actually aimed at small business owners, but we could totally see this fitting into pretty much any home office. Dell's Vostro lineup never has been flashy. Instead, it has relied on an all-business approach that keeps costs down, style at a minimum and specs decent. The latest in the family, the Vostro 1220, follows right in line by offering a decent array of specifications at a price that's certainly respectable.The 12.1" ultraportable is tailor made for those who can't quite see themselves using a minuscule netbook. All right, they didn't really give Vostro laptop owners the meaty middle digit. However, they gave them something that would require a reconfiguration of your typing mindset: a screwed-up keyboard layout.Flickr user Jake Gordon is angry. He ordered a new Dell Vostro with a UK keyboard and found that Dell has monkeyed subtly with the bottom row of keys, rendering the computer useless for anyone who touch-types.Of course, that only matters if you touch-type.
