Dell Brings SSDs To Refreshed Vostro Family

With all the hubbub surrounding Dell's growing Inspiron Mini family and the flashy new Adamo, we had practically forgotten about the all-business Vostro line. Dell has just jarred our memories by giving the 13", 15" and 17" versions a slight makeover and throwing in a few upgrades that definitely make our mouths water.

1720 all come bundled with Video Chat software if the For starters, the 13.3-inch Vostro 1320, the 15.4-inch Vostro 1520, and the 17-inch Vostrowebcam/microphone option is selected, giving users an instant way to start video calling right out of the box. Seeing that these are aimed at corporate-class customers, Dell has also stepped up the data reliability and protection by bringing solid state drives to this family for the very first time. Users can also select an encrypted hard drive with Wave Systems software, and of course, a fingerprint reader is included to further lock down your data.

One simple, though highly appreciated gesture, is that the Vostro comes loaded only with customer-selected software, which means you won't spend the first day of ownership pruning it of trialware and bloatware. Hey Dell, care to carry that tactic over to every single machine you make? All three units are up for order right now starting at $569 (Vostro 1520), $629 (Vostro 1320), and $649 (Vostro 1720).
