NVIDIA's next-generation graphics architecture for the consumer market is highly anticipated. After all, the current-generation Pascal architecture was launched two year ago, although we've seen some meaningful updates at the high-end over that time period.  Given all the pent-up hype surrounding 12nm Turing GPU architecture, it's understandable that the rumormill is working overtime to try to piece together what NVIDIA has in store. The latest rumors suggest that at the heart of the GeForce GTX 1180 will be a GT104 GPU measuring around 400mm2 with 3584 CUDA cores. For comparison, the GeForce GTX 1080 has 2560 CUDA cores while the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti has 3584 CUDA cores. At... Read more...
Two years after the launch of Pascal, the gaming community is eager to see what NVIDIA has in store for its next generation of graphics cards. Luckily for us, SK Hynix may have just given us some additional insight into when NVIDIA's upcoming consumer graphics cards – which include the GeForce GTX 1180 and GTX 1170 -- will launch thanks to comments that were made at GTC 2018. SK Hynix told Gamers Nexus that mass production of its GDDR6 memory (operating at speeds of at least 16Gbps) will take place within the next three months, which puts us on target for June/July. NVIDIA's next generation consumer GPUs are expected to use GDDR6, so we're probably looking at a July announcement at the... Read more...
A few days back, a rumor was making the rounds that NVIDIA would be launching some new graphics cards at either the Games Developers Conference (GDC) or its own Graphics Technology Conference (GTC). Lots of gamers and enthusiasts out there were very excited at that prospect, as GPU shortages are making it difficult and very expensive to buy a new graphics card right now. Unfortunately, a new rumor is making the rounds that throws cold water on the rumor from a few days back. The new rumor claims that multiple sources have confirmed that the most gamers can expect from NVIDIA at GTC or GDC is an announcement and perhaps some sort of teaser of the new cards. Other sources cited by Toms Hardware... Read more...
NVIDIA's Pascal architecture has been underpinning its GeForce series of gaming GPUs for nearly the past two years – it’s high time for an upgrade. We've heard rumors of a GA104 GPU called Ampere that is supposed to underpin a new GeForce GTX 2000 series of graphics cards. But there's another wrinkle in speculation of NVIDIA's next-generation GPU equation that was recently invoked by Reuters. The publication says that NVIDIA has another new GPU incoming codenamed "Turing," and makes just a passing reference to the GPU, noting, "The new GPU gaming chip, code named Turing, is expected to be unveiled next month." It is unknown if the GPU will be unveiled at the Game Developer Conference... Read more...
