The TurboGrafx-16 is making a comeback in miniaturized form, as is vogue for game consoles of yesteryear, and had it not been for disruptions caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, it would already be here. Alas, Konami announced in early March that it would not be releasing the mini console on March 19 as originally scheduled, promising further details once a new delivery time was confirmed. Apparently it has now settled on a release date, as evidenced on Amazon. You can still pre-order the TurboGrafx-16 mini on Amazon for $99.99, and according to the product page, it will release on May 22, 2020. Assuming that is actually the case, then we are basically looking at what amounts to a two-month delay...

Gamers of a certain age were elated to hear that Konami would be releasing the TurboGrafx-16 Mini gaming console, which is designed (and operates) in the same vein as the Nintendo NES Classic Edition and Sony PlayStation Classic. Konami originally announced the retro console in June 2019, and the company revealed the very next month that the TurboGrafx-16 Mini would launch in March 2020. Unfortunately, Konami will miss its March 19th launch date, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what the culprit was: the coronavirus. The company issued a statement indicating that it has encountered an "unavoidable suspension" at its manufacturing and shipping facilities...

Back in early June, Konami announced that it would be releasing a TurboGrafx-16 Mini gaming console, no doubt in order to cash in on the retro gaming craze that exploded with the Nintendo NES Classic Edition and SNES Classic Edition. As its name suggests, the TurboGrafx-16 Mini is a shrunken down copy of the original gaming console from three decades ago. Today, we’re learning that the TurboGrafx-16 Mini will go up for preorder on July 15th as an Amazon-exclusive in the United States, which just to happens to coincide with start of Prime Day(s).
