Do you ever have the urge to pull off a truly epic “Superhero Landing” to assert your dominance? Well, A UK entrepreneur is working to make that happen with his own Iron Man suit — or at least the closest approximation to Tony Stark’s suit that could be made with off-the-shelf components and some added ingenuity. Richard Browning and his company, Gravity, developed the exosuit — called the Daedalus flight suit — which is capable of hurtling a human through the air via six gas turbine (jet) engines.  Two of the jets are mounted at the base of the suit’s backpack (or with one strapped to each leg depending on the configuration) and each arm receives dual jet engines. All six of... Read more...
We’ve seen a number of special edition Xbox One consoles since its initial introduction over two years ago. However, Microsoft France has gone “Full Marvel” by enlisting the help of Tony Stark (better known as Iron Man) to design its latest Xbox One. The newest Xbox One is emblazoned with Stark Industries logos and has a miniature arc reactor built into its redesigned top panel. Naturally, the arc reactor lights up when the console is turned on and the motif has also replaced the power button on the redesigned wireless controller. Even though this custom Xbox One is undeniably cool, we have two problems with it. For starters, the color scheme is all wrong and reminds of more of a Stormtrooper... Read more...
An anonymous bidder laid out a cool $91K and change in an online auction to put an extra-special Iron Man Limited Edition Galaxy S6 Edge in their pocket, agreeing to pay 100 times the retail price for the device due to its 66 serial number (in China six is considered a lucky number, and thus 66 is doubly so). Yes, you read that right, and no, it is not the 1st of April, not in the U.S., China, or anywhere else today on our spinning blue rock.  The JD.com auction for the devilishly cool Iron Man Limited Edition Galaxy S666 Edge comes just two weeks after another one of the Edge-y Tony Stark devices sold on eBay for the comparatively low price of $35,600. Specifically,... Read more...
Robert Downey Jr. melted many hearts last week when he showed up as Tony Stark to deliver a customized, bionic arm to a seven-year-old fan. The video went viral and showed how the thoughtfulness of others can make a lasting impression on a child. Today, however, Robert Downey Jr. is stepping back into his role as HTC spokesman, and the results are definitely more mixed. Ever since stepping into the role in 2013, Robert Downey Jr.’s commercials have been met with puzzled reactions and this year sees the arrival of nine new commercial “shorts.” All of the commercials are color-coded (i.e. white, black, purple, green), cover a wide range of genres (comedy, fantasy, horror), and all of them are extremely,... Here’s your feel-good story for Thursday afternoon. Albert Manero, who has a degree in Aerospace engineering from the University of Central Florida and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, has made it a point to help serve others. "My parents always encouraged me to use my education to help others and to dream big dreams,” says Manero. “Now I want to inspire others to help engineer hope for the world." Manero is doing just that with Limbitless Solutions, a volunteer foundation that uses 3D printer technology to build bionic arms for children that have either lost a limb, or were born with partially developed limbs. Seven-year-old Alex fits into the latter category and... Read more...
