In a symbolic technological move geared towards telling the U.S. to read between the lines, Cuba has announced it will be ditching Microsoft for open source in order to protect national security. Open source as a movement is based on a network of members who work together by contributing code compiled for programs and applications which can then be freely distributed in order to help provide an alternative to expensive software required to run a PC. As of Jan. 30, customers who buy full retail copies of Vista and Office 2007 will get unlimited calls, e-mails and Web chats with Microsoft technical support during the first 90 days after activating the software. VR-Zone is reporting that NVIDIA will announce their second generation SLI technology at the CeBIT show in March.  This is still rumor at the moment, but NVIDIA definitely has plans to expand upon SLI.  One look at the triple PCI Express x16 slots on 680i mobos and the dual SLI edge connectors on 8800 GTX cards and you know something is in the works. There is an interesting story posted at CNN today that explains how a businessman travelling in Germany was able to use his laptop to nab a burglar that was robbing his house. He logged on to his laptop and via the Internet saw live images of the burglar at work. He then phoned his wife, who was not at the house but called the local police.
