Microsoft this morning announced the Surface Pro 8, which leaked over the weekend. As we learned from the previous leak, the Surface Pro 8 has received a significant redesign with slimmer bezels for the larger 13-inch display (compared to 12.3 inches). Speaking of the display, Microsoft cranked up the maximum refresh rate from 60Hz to 120Hz. Windows 11 will ensure that the display runs at 60Hz by default but can crank to 120Hz when needed (i.e., for fast-paced action on-screen, for touch, or when using the stylus) via Dynamic Refresh Rate. The new 2-in-1 convertible uses Intel’s 11th generation Tiger Lake processors (providing up to 16 hours of battery life) and can be configured with up... Read more...
Microsoft is scheduled to hold its annual Surface hardware event on September 22nd, and multiple products are expected to debut at that time. One of the headliners will undoubtedly be the Surface Pro 8, which received an early reveal today courtesy of @Shadow_Leak via Twitter. According to the tweet, the Surface Pro 8 will use Intel's current 11th generation Tiger Lake-based processors rather than the incoming 12th generation Alder Lake family. That is to be expected considering that Intel won't officially announce its full Alder Lake processor lineup until late October. Also on deck is an all-new 13-inch display that doubles the refresh rate to 120Hz. This would put the Surface Pro 8 on even... Read more...
Windows 11 isn't the only big release that Microsoft has planned for this fall. Today, the company announced that it would hold a Surface event on September 22nd, where it will talk about Windows 11 and supporting hardware. There's no doubt that the headlining device at the event will be the Surface Duo 2, which leaked in the flesh in late July, and hit the benchmark circuit last week. The overall form-factor of the device will match that of its predecessor, but it will feature much more powerful hardware thanks to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and 8GB of RAM compared to its predecessor's Snapdragon 855 and 6GB of RAM. And while the original Surface Duo puzzled many by only supporting 4G LTE... Read more...
It was inevitable that Microsoft would release a Surface Pro 8, but no one expected that we would come across it in this manner. An alleged Surface Pro 8 engineering sample was sold on eBay for $1,300, and it comes with some interesting specs. Whereas the Surface Pro 7 is powered by 10th generation Ice Lake processors, this prototype is rocking Intel's latest 11th generation Tiger Lake processor (Core i7-1165G7). Not only does Tiger Lake bring some healthy gains in performance over Ice Lake, but it also supports PCIe 4.0, USB 4 and comes with a far superior Iris Xe integrated graphics engine. In this case, the Core i7-1165G7 processor is paired with a generous 32GB of DDR4-4266... Read more...
