Quake fans rejoice, Bethesda has made an offer that many will find too good to refuse. Quake Champions, the upcoming arena shooter that has not yet been fully released, is now available as a free trial to anyone and everyone. Previously it was a $30 title as part of Steam's Early Access program. It will return to that price after the free trial period as well, but if you grab it now for free, it will remain in your library after this current trial period ends. The latest title in id Software's long-running Quake series, Quake Champions, is currently being tested by gamers in a closed beta. Quake Champions was announced back in early June to much fanfare. The game, which is PC-only, is being billed as the ultimate eSports showcase for FPS gamers. However, the PC-only approach to the development of the game is sure to be a bummer for console gamers that have become accustomed to having access to hit PC games like Fallout 4 and DOOM. But given the stiff requirements of Quake Champions, consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One never had a chance (developer id Software is targeting 60+ fps and a targeted 120Hz refresh rate). Pete Hines, Bethesda’s marketing chief further explained the reasoning for making Quake Champions a PC-exclusive. "We were like, 'No, it's a PC-only thing.... Read more...
