While high-end workstation graphics cards may be based on roughly the same core architectures as gaming-targeted graphics cards, their purposes in life are very different. While they both accomplish the same task, processing commands and rendering images on-screen, workstation cards endure a more strenuous existence than their gaming brethren. Workstation cards are used to solve huge, mission-critical problems, like helping engineers design and build cars; helping architects to planning and construct buildings, and even help to our friendly oil and gas companies to provide more effective oil and gas production and transportation methods. For many HotHardware readers,... Read more...

DigiTimes reports that Intel's upcoming quad-core Kentsfield processor will be arriving in November and will be dubbed "Core 2 Quadro". Slated to debut at the same time as AMD's upcoming 3GHz Athlon 64 FX-64 CPU, the first quad-core CPU from Intel will be a flagship Core 2 Extreme QX6700. This model will feature a 2.66GHz core frequency, though a much less expensive Core 2 Quadro Q6600 will be offered in Q1 2007 which will run at 2.4GHz.   The NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000 NV35GL Based Pro Graphics By: Dave Altavilla September 8, 2003   Back in the month of August, we showcased for you two of the current top Pro Graphics cards in the industry, the NVIDIA Quadro FX 2000 and the ATi FireGL X1.  However, at the time we were testing those two cards, NVIDIA was readying the follow-on product to their new Quadro FX 2000, dubbed the Quadro FX 3000.  A derivative of the NV30 GPU, the Quadro FX 2000 was built upon NVIDIA's NV30GL for Workstation graphics.  In kind, NVIDIA's Quadro FX 3000 is based on their NV35GL GPU and all the enhancements its base NV35 architecture brings to the table.  Specifically, the NV35GL...   The NVIDIA Quadro FX 2000 And The ATi FireGL X1 Professional Graphics Solutions Do Battle By: Dave Altavilla August 20, 2003     Professional Graphics Cards are sort of an oddity to us here at HotHardware.com.  Admittedly, we don't get to tinker enough in this area, since frankly the market that is served by these products is a specialty niche´, where there just isn't the same level of marketing buzz, as in the Consumer Graphics space.  Not too mention, the fact that if you want to fairly represent a product's performance and features, from our perspective, one needs to look at a number of different application scenarios.  The high end CAD and 3D design and rendering... The PNY Quadro 4 900XGL Professional MCAD Testing Of Nvidia's Flagship Workstation Card By -John Fiegener September 16, 2002   Its been a while since we have gotten our hands on a new Nvidia professional level video card. Last time we here at (tool.) tested the Elsa Gloria II "Quadro", we were quit impressed with the performance of that entry into the professional MCAD graphics card arena.  Elsa had always been a producer of high quality gaming cards in the day.  It's too bad they left that market space.   Let me first give you a quick introduction to who we are here at (tool.). tool. is a Product Design and Development consultancy. We ideate, design and engineer... Read more...
